Thankfully we are at least enjoying a semblence of the notion that the collective "we" are still sharing. The future generations seem more entitled and concerned about the "I" in we...or am I just getting old and crotchety?

I realise that my Grandmother's generation lived through the depression and suffered together. They grew up saving their money and didn't trust the government. Mow we seem to think that we can trust the government to take care of us? HA! Why? Look at how poorly they manage our money? They spend it on building weapons instead of hospitals for the 80 million aging Boomers and their parents who somehow refuse to die :)

We North Amercians do have more freedom than most but we waste it. oh well. I look forward to eating my bowl of soylent green whilse I watch the Price Is Right in the old folks home..

Did I ever tell you this is sorta how I found my new career? A death in the family (my husband) led me to loneliness, which led to reaching out to old friends and classmates via internet. I started sending out a joke list specifically to show everyone that they don't have to treat me like a mourning widow; that I am still me. When I discovered blogging, it became an easier way to share those jokes. Five years later, this is my profession.

and I LOVE buying things for my family at this time of year. No, I don't fall for the hyperbole and pressure; but I DO feel the sweet desire to spoil those I love. Not with silliness or to the point where I am stressed from over-drawn accounts - but I take christmas in the finest sense of the holiday - a day to celebrate and love and acknowledge those you love.

I had to play mt harp at a Baptist church Sun. night for their "Lighting of the Greens" ceremony. One of the speakers gave a "history" of the Christmas Tree and the symbolism of it.

I spend my days as a Coder reading the charts of those patients and getting to know them and their health care teams very well.

Health care workers are heroes. Sometimes I have to lock myself into the bathroom and cry over what I read in the charts. I can't imagine having to deal with it in person!
